How to Add Solar Layouts In Proposals

Learn how to quickly add solar panel layouts exactly how you want them in the proposals.

What You Need To Do:

After you have created one or more solar power proposal options and you are in the proposal tab, you are ready to add the solar panel layouts to the customers proposals.
Note: If the proposal is shared, be sure to un-share to enable editing.
Note: If you have not yet created any solar options in the proposal, first see the article Ceating a Solar Design and Proposal (Overview).

  1. In the 3D Proposal View select the solar option you want to do a solar panel layout for and then click on Solar Layout.

  2. Then click on + Create New Solar Layout.

  3. Enter full screen mode to make it easy or if on a computer with a small screen (Optional).

  4. Remove any panels if required (this is controled by the selected size of the solar power option selected in the 3D view).
    See the highlighted area in the screenshot below for this guideance - Note: if no panels are required to be removed, skip the next step:

  5. Remove the necessary panels using one of the 3 methods below:

    E.g. using the Automatic Tool. Notice how the panels are deleted at random and not necessarly how you would want. This button is designed to get something done quick.

    E.g. using the Bin Tool (Clicking one at a time - this can take some time - it is accurate but can be slow depending on how many panels you need to remove)

    E.g. using the Zone Tool - This is often the fastest way to get the desired outcome due to the flexibility in the editable shape to get to the number of panels requried.

  6. Exit full screen mode if this is open.
  7. Use the preview button to see the panels without any lines. Then place / drag exactly where you want them.

    Pro tip: If there is available imagery you can change the survey date to find the image that works best for you.

  8. Take screenshot and it will be added to the proposal for the selected solar power size.

    See here (when in the 3D view) if the solar option you have selected has a panel layout or not. If you select a solar option where there is no image in the below highlighted section, then repeat the above steps to create a solar panel layout screenshot for it accordingly.
